Farewell Blocks
We’re always sad when a CBQ member leaves the guild. As a gesture of friendship, we send them off with blocks made by the membership. This block is made by members as a token of friendship to take with them as they leave CBQ.
The “new” block is called “Random” and its just as its name implies because of the “Random” cut you will make. The block will finish at 6.5” x 6.5”.
-
You will pick a 7” square of fabric and a 9” x 1.5” strip of cream or white.
-
Randomly cut the block into 2 pieces (at an odd angle is best)
-
Then add the 1.5” X 9” strip to one of the cut sides using a 1/4” seam allowance
-
Press to the outside of the block (away from the center)
-
Add the other cut piece to the strip and press
-
Now square up your block to 6.5” x 6.5”.
-
Put your name in the strip using a permanent marker (Micron works best).
We have markers at the table at every meeting. Each block will be unique. You can make 6 blocks from a fat quarter.

NICU QUILTS
Size and requirements
• 30x40 or larger so they fit over the isolettes
• must be all cotton including thread and batting
• no flannel because the lint isn’t good for them
• not a lot of quilting as it stiffens the quilt
